US 60/65 Interchange Springfield, Missouri
Info
The construction of the US 60/65 interchange in southeast Springfield, begun in May 2009.
The complex, $57 million-plus project included replacing two cloverleaf loop ramps with directional “flyover” ramps. Bridges were built on US 60 over the railroad tracks just west of US 65. Other bridges on US 65 over US 60 and on US 60 over Lake Springfield were replaced or rebuilt.

Work is progressing on the new westbound U.S. 60 bridge over the railroad tracks. The bridge is scheduled for completion in the spring and U.S. 60 traffic will be shifted to the new bridge while an eastbound bridge is built.

Contractor crews are building columns to support the U.S. 60 bridges over the railroad tracks west of U.S. 65.
The bridge column and cap (right, background) will support the westbound U.S. 60 bridge being built over the railroad tracks west of U.S. 65. The bridge is scheduled for completion later this year, so U.S. 60 traffic can be switched to the new bridge. This will allow crews to begin work on the eastbound U.S. 60 railroad bridge. Some of the columns for that bridge are on the left.
Dump trucks enter and leave work areas along U.S. 60 west of U.S. 65 to deliver rock and dirt. The elevation of U.S. 60 must be raised to accommodate two new bridges over the railroad tracks west of U.S. 65.
