Comelec proclaims 14 winning party-list groups
The Commission on Elections (Comelec), sitting as National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), on Friday proclaimed the top 14 party-list groups that garnered the most number of votes in the May 13 national and local midterm elections.
Comelec Resolution No.006-13, promulgated May 14, 2013, proclaimed the following winning party-list groups:
1. Buhay – 1,255,734 votes
2. A Teacher – 1,033,873
3. Bayan Muna – 945,639
4. 1-Care – 931,303
5. Akbayan – 820,357
6. Ako Bicol – 761,115
7. Abono – 753,161
8. OFW Family – 735,854
9. Gabriela – 706,194
10. Coop Natco – 640,180
11. Agap – 588,095
12. Cibac – 578,320
13. Magdalo – 561,613
14. An Waray – 540,210.
“There are votes for party-list groups still to be canvassed by the NBOC, and in order not to prejudice the proclamation of other parties, organizations or coalitions which may later on be established to be entitled to a seat or additional seats, only party-list groups that obtained at least 2 percent of the votes cast for party-list will each be allocated with one (1) guaranteed seat,” the resolution reads.
Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes, Jr., said the 14 winning party-list groups have at least one guaranteed seat in the coming 16th Congress, but it is still possible they will be entitled to one or two more seats after the remaining 44 winning party-list groups are proclaimed.
“The 14 proclaimed groups are safe. Ipagdasal na lamang kung dumami pa ang seats nila. But malamang yan magkakaroon ng tig-dalawa seats ang 14” (they should pray they get more seats. But the 14 groups will probably get two seats each), Brillantes said.
