LIGHT PLANE CRASH LANDS IN DAVAO AIRPORT
Operation at the Davao International Airport was suspended for over an hour when an AG-Cat single-engine biplane crash landed shortly after it took off at the airport’s runway 05, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said on Friday. The incident had caused the delays of several flights bound for Davao City. According to CAAP Director General William Hotchkiss 3rd, the agricultural aircraft with registry number RP-C1425, owned and operated by Mindanao Rainbow Agricultural Development Services, Inc. was piloted by Capt. Jose Bugarin who sustained no injury. However, the CAAP’s Operation Rescue and Coordinating Center did not further elaborate if the plane had suffered mechanical problem or an engine trouble, and to where the aircraft was heading. The Davao airport operations returned to normal after the disabled aircraft was cleared off the runway.
